How to Make Your Website Visually Appealing

How to Make Your Website Visually Appealing

Do you thoroughly clean your house before any event, or when guests are expected? If you’re nodding your head right now, then ask yourself why you do that.

To leave a good impression? To make them feel welcome? Or both?

Well, it’s the same case with websites.

Every day, thousands of new websites are launched, and millions of people visit them. In this digitally connected world where 5.06 billion people use search engines, it is incredibly important for websites to mark their presence with a website.

That said, with tools like WordPress, creating a fully functional website is like a walk in the park now. You may not even require coding or other technical skills to create a website. However, what matters the most is how well-designed and refined your website’s User Interface (UI) is and whether it offers the best User Experience (UX) to the visitors.

Below, I’m going to share a few tips on how you can visually enhance your website and make it appealing to your visitors.

But before that, let’s understand why website design is so important.

Why is Website Design Important?

Today, there are more than 1.1 billion websites on the internet. Realistically, it may be impossible for you to create an exclusive website like no other. However, I believe one major difference that can separate your website from the rest is how well-designed it is.

Below, I’ve mentioned a few brief points explaining the importance of website design:

  • The website design is the first thing visitors notice.
  • Poorly designed websites may have higher bounce rates.
  • Well-designed websites have a greater chance to rank higher on search engines.
  • Visitors can easily navigate around on an uncluttered website.
  • Visitors may question the authenticity of poorly designed websites.
  • A well-structured website can offer a more professional and refined look to your business.

How to Make Your Website Visually Appealing?

In this section, I will explain a few factors that can make your website more welcoming to visitors. But before that, let me offer a piece of advice.

Besides the website’s hosting platform, like WordPress or GoDaddy, you can also use tools like Figma and Canva to create or download themes, templates, pictures, etc., for your website. Generally, these tools have an extensive library of themes and templates to choose from, and you may easily find one that matches your brand’s voice.

That said, ensure your internet is up to the task, as these tools are bandwidth-heavy and require top connectivity to produce results efficiently. Personally, I’ve always relied on my reliable and fast Xfinity Internet to manage my websites, as it always downloads website themes and templates in a jiffy and helps me upload data to my websites seamlessly.

Now, let’s look at the factors that can improve your website’s design:

Keep Your Website Simple

Most people believe that a flashy website attracts visitors’ attention, and it may be true as well. However, I always advocate for a clean and simple website interface as it may be more helpful for visitors to easily find what they came for.

Besides this, your Call-To-Action (CTA) can easily stand out with strategic placement and bold typography with a simple website design.

Most importantly, a clean website interface may provide much-needed white space (empty or blank spaces between text and images on a webpage), and make the information on your website more digestible.

Create a Drop-Down Menu on the Homepage

Creating a comprehensive drop-down menu on the homepage is highly recommended for a clean website design. A drop-down menu can provide insights about several features on your website and, at the same time, conserve space for more crucial information on the homepage.

Furthermore, creating a drop-down menu frees up the sidebar space on the homepage. Consequently, you may use it as white space or place sponsored ads in a prominent position on your homepage.

Make Your Website Navigable

As I mentioned earlier, visitors may hop onto another website if they don’t instantly find the information they want. Due to this, the bounce rate of the website will increase, and surely, no webmaster wants to be in such a situation.

That being said, you can easily make your website navigable for visitors in the following ways:

  • Take help from Information Architecture (IA) design. It is a way to organize your website’s content logically while keeping your visitors in mind.
  • You can unclutter your website’s navigation by offering a lower number of clickable options to your visitors on a webpage.
  • Adding a search bar in the products section, blogs, resources, or any webpage covering extensive information can improve your website’s UX.
  • It’s important to make your website navigable for mobile, as a significant number of internet users access websites via smartphones.
  • You can also add a drop-down menu on your website’s homepage so visitors can directly visit the sections they want.

Optimize Your Content

Besides offering a tidy look to your website, content optimization is incredibly important as it plays a major role in a website’s ranking on the search engine. Plus, user-friendly content may also bring in sales and offer clarity to your potential customers.

To optimize content on your website, make sure it is informative and easily digestible so that the visitors can instantly find the piece of information they want. Moreover, breaking large text chunks into smaller paragraphs can also make a website visually appealing to visitors.
